These 2 delectable warm chocolately little puppies, a boy (Bobo) and a girl (BiBi) are pups rescued before a recent 'clean up the neighbourhood' round up. Four of their siblings are still out there. They are estimated to be less than 3 months old.

You will expect pups as young as these to be noisy, happy, excited and greedy. Sadly, not these babies. Since their arrival, they have not made much sounds, hiding behind doors and peering from 'neath the sofas and cabinets and treading with great care. They are fearful of humans, and who can blame them.

Innocent BoBo and BiBi are testament to the cruelty and intolerance of mankind. This is the realistic world for pups not born into pedigree or to families. We can only imagine the horrors their sad young eyes have seen and screams only their ears have heard.

But we are confident these two very lovely dogs will learn to adjust to normality given your love and care to shower on them and they will grow up to be magnificent companians. For it is in the very nature of dogs to love, to love beyond, to love despite.

Young BoBo and lovely BiBi have certainly gone through much in their short little lives, through no fault of their own, except the unfairness the world have thrust them in.

Can we help right the wrong? Give them a chance at life? A life that some of their siblings can never have because we didnt manage to save all. The pups do not need to be adopted together.

Meet Mr Baxter Brown the Beagle

Come meet Baxter Brown, a 5 years old sweetheart who is looking for a forever home to call his own.

Baxter, a good-natured fellow is extremely fond of his meals and treats. His soulful brown eyes will tug at your heartstrings, especially when he is begging for his treats. Affectionately known as Bax or Baxy by his fosterer and many friends, Bax is your typical beagle who enjoys a few good howls and many tummy rubs.

A completely emanciated and tick infested Bax was found wandering on the streets in a forsaken place with another beagle. What a strange sight they presented, two pedigrees in an area where few cars drive past and no residents in sight. Together, the two homeless dogs were seen walking slowly on the road, battling the harsh rainy weather and hungry tummies as their noses searched for food and a place and shelter from the rain to rest their heads.

A feeder who frequents the area saw the strange sight and gave them food of which the other bigger and slightly rotound beagle hungrily took. Bax appeared aloof, as she said and just sat on, looking tired from his journey. The feeder saw that they had been bullied by other dogs and were badly bitten. Bax still bears the scars on his face and body from marks in the wild.

The feeder took pity on them and decided to try relocate them but it was late in the evening, in heavy downpour and she had nowhere and no one who could take in two big dogs. Bax's friend was whining piteously with anxiety when she tried to leave and so he was placed as the needier of the two. She managed to find a foster home for one dog and he was chosen to be relocated on the same night and unfortunately she had to leave Bax behind and alone in the the streets till another foster home could be found for him. While the feeder did not know was, ironically, Bax was the sicker of the two. He had not been eating for many days and was dazed and listless from an infection in his tummy, probably caused by some bad food he ate. She had thought he was aloof but in fact he was too sick and too listless to care about his surroundings and even whining or barking was too much of an effort and required too much energy. (Now we know that that accordingly to the vet, had Bax not been relocated when he did, he would have died in two to three days for he was extremely malnourished and weak.) For many hours, poor Bax sat under the rain in the dark, shivering against the cold and just sitting there, looking and hoping that someone would come and help him. He didn't understand why he was abandoned and why this time, he had lost his only canine companian and he was truly and totally alone.

who could not fathom how a dog could survive alone in the rain,

the storm, wet, cold, hungry and bitten by the other dogs.

But God had plans for Baxter Brown. When news about Bax and his photo was circulated, another family felt sorry for Bax after hearing his plight and took him in. Bax was rescued from the cold the next day and finally tucked into a warm bed.

He was given many delicious things to eat but to the fosterer's astonishment, Bax ate very little and was tired all the time. From the most delicious home cooked food to specially bought cans and recommended kibbles and dehydrated treats, fish, beef, lamb, chicken, duck, eggs, cheese, essence of chicken and what have you, nothing worked and a visit to the vet was necessary because it is highly unusual for beagles not to be eating. Things didn't bode well, after all everyone knows that beagles just simply "live to eat" and Bax seemed indifferent.

To everyone's dismay but not unexpectedly, the vet revealed that Bax was indeed very sick, he had high liver and kidney readings, bad infection in his tummy, had fever and worse of all, he was severly anaemic from too many days of starvation. An emergency blood transfusion was needed urgently to preserve his life.

To cut the extremely long story short, under good care and plenty of love, with many people praying for him and visiting him, Bax has since recovered and is in the pink of health. He now has a healthy 'beagle appetite' and points his nose for a sniff of a treat. Extremely fond of his human companians, Bax usually will howl excitedly when they return and follow them around like a shadow.

He gets along extremely well with other dogs, big and small, chihuahuas and terriers to big mongrels, Bax does not show aggression although he does get over excited at the smell of food and barges his way towards the source. He isn't what we call a hyperactive dog for he loves a good nap and enjoys time just being around people but beagles being hounds simply love walks. He is a great walker and does not pull his leash. He is very easy to walk and he listens to commands.

Beagles are extremely smart and Bax is no exception. Besides that he has a very good memory. He remembers things to a tee and if you tell him "No" about something, he stops doing it or if you bring him out at a certain time, he remembers and waits with anticipation, with pricked ears, cocking his head to one side, waiting for the sound of the leash. Sometimes he tries to communicate by running towards the door and back to you as if to tell you, "hey its that time for a walk again"... It was fast for him to learn to use newspapers for his pee and poo. He is such a neat freak that sometimes he uses his nose to roll the wet papers into a ball so he can use the dry ones underneath, clever Baxy.

Can this be realised or will it be forever a dream?

However with the terrible ordeal he has faced and unlike most dogs, because Bax remembers well, he has become a little insecure and he needs someone who can understand his insecurities and willing to work with him on it. He is the sweetest dog with the most affection and love to give but marred by the abuse in his past, he can be a little unsure of certain actions and loud noises. We speculate that Bax was a former breeding dog and certain brushes against his body seem like 'pushes' and 'prods' to him and he reacts with fear and defense. We have discovered too, that Bax responds better to females and speculate that his previous abusers were males for he reacts very differently towards the two.

There are many holes in Bax' life, was he sick before he was kicked out, Was he not eating for a long time which was why he was thrown away, or Did he become sick only on the road. Questions like how come the other beagle was fat while Bax is so thin, and Were they both from the same place? I guess we will never know and Bax can never tell us, but what we do know is he appears to have been badly abused before and traumatised by certain incidents. We can only pray that God will open doors for a committed loving family to open their hearts and offer a chance at a new life for Baxy because after nearly losing his life due to man's cruelty, surely, surely he deserves a good one now.

What an adorable poser boy!

Big Tom is still looking for a good home. He is now completely litter trained and does not dirty the house. He has excellent manners and covers up his toilet business nicely.

At perfect peace, irregardless of the presence of the fosterer's dog.

Tom gets along very well with dogs, other cats or any humans. He is very much dog-like as he just loves to cuddle up to you and 'manja-s' even when you are in the room, he will sit and wait. He follow you around just like a dog and pretty much unlike most cats.

Big boy Tom is a sweet fella. Found with 4 other siblings on the road in a box, by a kind person, he wants to be as fortunate as his three siblings who have gotten their own abode.

Handsome Big Tom sits docilely and calmly as he understands how

important this pose will be to potential adopters.

Tom Tom is 8 months old. He is big and fat and loves nothing better than to sit by your side, snuggled closely as he watches football together with you, cheering on your favourite team, or comfort you as you sob sob sob watching those touching K-dramas, or even enjoying the American Idol singers and David Blaine's magic shows. All Big Tom wants is to be by your side, never mind if it is a small flat or a mansion in a posh estate.

Kendalle, the lovely three year plus cross bearded collie aka 'shaggy dog' is looking for a home. He is sweet and friendly with people and children and has a marvellously happy healthy appetite.

Happy Ken-Ken, our darling bear dog, smiles for the pose

Ken-Ken, as we affectionately call him gets along wonderfully well with cats and can be seen licking little kitties just like a proud daddy would. Our shaggy boy also get along well with dogs, big and small as long as they do not challenge him because he is an alpha dog. If the present dogs are mild mannered it will do Kendalle fine as he takes pride in his pack, just like a big Lion leader.

Kendalle was found abandoned, a thin, boney sorry sight of a dog with lifeless eyes and when brought to the vet discovered to have heartworms. He responded very well to treatment, the vet had full praise for him for his temperament and docility. He is now in the prime of health, has been sterilised and we discovered, Ken Ken is an awfully good jumper.

Ken simply loves jumping and we know if a potential owner has plans for agility classes, you have found yourself a champion hurdler. Kendalle is also paper trained and contrary to myths that big dogs don't do well in apartments, Ken is actually pretty good in one as he knows how to behave indoors and outdoors. Ken enjoys lying next to you watching the lastest K-drama or listening to Gold 90.5 as much as he loves a good walk. He is a good walker, sometimes in his excitement he may pull but retracts as he listens to your commands

A gentleman always crosses his leg when posing for a shot and Ken is the epitome of a gentleman's dog

He is not boisterous but a well behaved, happy and friendly dog, with much zest for life and a great big appetite for food, treats and lots of cuddles. In return he gives you his big heart, his shaggy bear-like head and life-long loyalty and affection. At less than three, he has seen his share of misery and shed much tears at being left behind and left to die, so now he takes upon every minute to enjoy his life and endeavour make yours happy ones with his nudges for pats on his big shaggy head.

Ah yes, Ken attempts to make you smile even when days are dreary and the sun seems downcast, Ken will never leave your side.

Kendall is not suitable for HDB as he is big in size, around a Retriever's but he will adapt well in a condo and of course a house with garden will be perfect, as long as there is no low gates and fences. Remember our young big boy is a champion jumper, of course.

Macho Boy

Handsome boy found opposite Yishun junior college. Appaently abandoned as no microchip and ID. He's young and very well behaved. He's very tall, slim and came with blue collar. He knows basic commands, can sit and paw. and even play Fetch. Like an Angel, he gets along well with dogs, children, people. Knows how to behave in an apartment. He's calm and docile.

Harry. I Want So Much To Live

We were informed by a member of the public, Kenneth, who emailed for some help and advice on what to do as he had seen Harry chained up for some months. This is what Kenneth says :

My company have shifted our operation to Woodlands Industrial in March 2011. Upon settling down, I notice a dog being with a very short leash to a wall a few unit from where I was operating.

Fast forward to May 2011, the dog was quickly reduced to skin and bone. I didn't want to seek help from SPCA as I know that if they step in, the dog might be put to sleep within 24hrs because it was an old mongrel. Maybe he was lucky, I looked on the internet and found a group that is run by volunteers that help stray/ abused animals. I could not remember the exact date now, but the volunteer come over in the middle of the night and fed the skinny dog 4 canned of dog food. We were in touch the next few days and they ask me if I am willing to help to take care of the dog. I agree and was later on introduced to another volunteer, who came every week without fail to deliver dog food to me and to make enquires of the well- being of the dog. When I am not free on Sunday, their volunteer will usually drop by to feed the dog.

The dog, named Harry now, is recovering well and had put on weight. He was sent for a medical check up as I noticed there was blood in his urine. The volunteers have told me not to worry about the medical cost as she will find a way to help Harry. The result from the Doctor visit state that it will need long term medication for heart problem and he may also have cancer.

Our Harry, an old lonely dog, his eyes showing his years of pain and hardship

We first found Harry sleeping in a corner behind a parked lorry. He was no longer chained up but the years of being chained on a short leash, fed perhaps one meal in weeks, had reduced him to a bag of bones with legs so weak he could hardly stand. He was a sorry sight. He lay motionless as we approached him. We strained our eyes to see if he was still breathing. We called out many times and made all kinds of sounds that dogs usually respond to, but he continued to be in a deep sleep.

This was not a state of slumber. It felt as if he was really weak and that he was in such deep sleep that had we not woken him, he might have just slipped away. . . . .

We walked back to the car to take out a can of dog food. The power of scent! As soon as we opened the can of food, Harry awoke from his deep sleep and struggled to stand up. His legs kept sliding apart as he tried his best to balance. Finally he stood up and wobbled quickly over to us. He ate so fast, it would seem like it was his first meal in months. He wanted more and more and so we ended up feeding him 4 large cans of dog food. He could have eaten more but his stomach was so empty, we didn’t want him to feel sick and throw up.

Harry seemed friendly enough. We managed to pat him, wipe his eyes and clean his face, before he quickly went back to his comfort zone and curled up, with a full stomach, possibly the first in his entire life. He was contented.

The following day, I contacted Kenneth to try to arrange for him to feed Harry on a regular basis. Kenneth agreed to take on that responsibility, and also offered to buy rice to cook with the canned food that we would supply.

A friend who happens to live near Harry, has kindly offered to share the feeding responsibility with Kenneth. She bought two plastic bowls for Harry’s water and food, and she buys the dog food and passes it to Kenneth on a weekly basis. She also feeds Harry when Kenneth is out of town. Kenneth is in charge of feeding Harry twice a day and will clear and wash the bowls after Harry is done eating, so as to avoid complaints from the other tenants.

This has turned out to be an excellent arrangement for a dog that was near death. In less than two short months, we have seen Harry put on weight and his stomach has gotten rounder, his legs stronger. He even runs when he sees us drive up towards him!

A few days back, Kenneth informed us that he noticed that there was blood in Harry’s pee so we quickly booked the pet transport and arranged to catch Harry and take him to the vet for a check-up.

Harry has some missing teeth, possibly from old age

At the vet, Harry was extremely cooperative. He allowed the Dr to jab him, draw blood, take numerous x-rays and he was calm through it all. In fact, while Harry was at the clinic, we noticed that his eyes actually lit up for the first time. Perhaps because Harry likes people and he was happy to be surrounded by them. While speaking to the Dr, Harry dripped blood onto the floor, and that got us really worried.

Dr Chan did numerous x-rays on him as she noticed he was constantly panting and had difficulty breathing. His results were heartbreaking.

1) Harry is anemic.

2) His heart is enlarged, possibly from old age and thus, is not functioning well.

3) Water in his lungs, because his heart is not working as it should be.

4) Heart murmur.

5) Harry was dripping blood – Dr suspected that there is internal bleeding and Harry could possibly be suffering from prostate cancer as she can feel a huge mass in his penile region but she can’t confirm this till a proper biopsy is done. Unfortunately, due to Harry’s heart condition, there is a high probability that he won’t survive the surgery and being under GA, thus a biopsy cannot be carried out.

6) Harry has bacteria and crystals in his urine. (He doesn't like drinking water.)

Dr Chan says that for blood to be dripping and for his penis to be so swollen, the cancer would have been developing for quite a long while in order for it to get to this stage.

X-ray of Harry's penile region. There seems to be a growth there and it is possible that he has had cancer for many months, but this can't be confirmed unless a biopsy in carried out.

Why has Harry chosen to live on the sixth floor of this particular building? Did he use to have an owner or care-giver that worked there? Has this person left his job or left the country, leaving Harry behind, loyally waiting for years, hoping . . . and pining away for him?

Harry is not young; he looks to be about 8 to 10 years old? He could be even older . .. . or he could actually be younger but the years of being chained up and not having food may have taken its toll on him, making him look much older than he really is. What really strikes me when I see Harry, when I look deep into his eyes, despite all the food, care and attention he recently has, there is such a great sense of sadness and heaviness in him. Saying that he has had a hard life would be an understatement. Looking at Harry, I feel his head and heart heavy with sorrow, not having anyone ever shown him love, not having ever known what a family or a friend is. Harry has lived this life for years, and now, his eyes plead with me to help him, to take him home and show him the comfort, the warmth and love that he has never experienced.

Perhaps Kenneth and Susan have shown Harry care and concern, but somehow, to Harry, he doesn’t belong to them. They don’t belong to him, they are not his.

Harry needs to return to the vet in one month’s time, to see if his heart condition has improved, and to check if he is still bleeding internally. In the meantime, Kenneth will feed and medicate Harry.

The only time we have seen handsome Harry's eyes light up, was when he was at the Vet, surrounded by people. Harry needs someone in his life. His very own Master.

We work mostly with street animals and often, they are quite happy living on the streets. They feel that the streets are their playground. All they need from us is food on a regular basis and the occasional hugs and pats. They don’t ask that we take them home because they would miss their freedom. Neither is it our objective to collect dogs. However, occasionally we come across dogs like Harry, whose eyes plead with us to please not put him back at the factory or on the streets because he is truly tired of living that life and all he wants is a family to call his own, even if it’s just for a few short years before he passes on . . . .

MeiMei was rescued just in time before the local authorities caught her.
She has been scared by dog catchers attempting to catch her hence she is extremely shy and needs time to warm up. She greets with a unique smile which might come across as fierce but she is in fact as gentle as a lamb.
When she was first rescued, she didn't know how to eat or drink from a bowl, food had to be scattered across and she drank water only from leaves and muddy water in the pot.

Lovely curious Xing Wang strikes her best look.

Xing Wang was picked up someone when she was about 3 months old and weeks later she was adopted. But her fate changed when she had some skin issues. The owner brought her in to the animal hospital where I worked and tried to treat it but the vet said it required about 3 weeks or more for treatment. Because it took so long, the owner thought the skin could not be treated and he wanted to put it down. I managed to dissuade him coz the dog is still young ...and after weeks of treatment she got well n she's in good health now with beautiful healthy fur.

Pensively thinking of what her future will bring.

She is a loving dog, a little insecure because of the circumstance in her life and being left in boarding for so long at such a young age. She needs a bit of warming up before any stranger get close to her and I try to bring her out for walks. Recently I brought her to east coast to let her be exposed to more strangers n surrounding. I cannot board her for too long at the hospital and really, really hope someone can adopt her soon as she can be a great companion to be with.

I have taught her to sit and she is a fast learner. Xing Wang is now 8 months old, sterilised, microchipped and healthy, having received all her vaccinations, given a clean bill of health. Introducing affectionate young KY, the beagle

His name was Milo and he was left behind by his owners who said they didn't have time for him. Young Milo is only 1.5 years old but already he's been given the boot. What then is time? No time to walk him? No time to throw him a ball? No time to cuddle and kiss him? It seems then that time is akin to love for this is all Milo is asking for.

Fortunately for him, he was left behind at a market centre where some workers took pity on him and took care of him. They also changed his name to KY and much as they took pains to care for him, as we all know this was not an ideal place where he could stay for long, nor a home that dear KY can call his own, with no cuddly bed to jump nor snuggle into, or watch his favourite programs on the telly with his head on a soft lap. He has since been rescued and is living with his dear fosterer who wants to find him a loving and committed home.

KY is about 1.5 years old, and is neutered and micrco-chipped. He is healthy and according to his fosterer, he has the nicest demeanor towards people and is totally non-aggressive. He loves food and is deemed easy to train, if you have time (aka, if you have LOVE for we already said that time = love). He hasn't had that in a long long while which is why he is such a 'sucker' for affection, touch and cuddles. Is that enough to melt your heart already?

KY is slightly shy towards other dogs. He will sniff them and all that but other than that, not much interaction as he has probably never been socialised with dogs before. If there's a loud bark from a strange dog, he retreats with his tail between his legs. We know he just needs time to get to know everyone and everything.

KY loves tummy rubs.

Our wish for dear affectionate KY is a loving home with time for him and overflowing love. Time to train him, teach him, throw him a ball, run with him, walk him, just be with him and never ever deem him 'too much trouble'.

Although he is pretty small sized for a beagle, this breed is unfortunately not on AVA approved list for HDBs, we are looking preferably for a home in a private apartment or landed. This request is for the sake of KY's security and the adopter's peace of mind.

Poppy, the lovely 3 year old Golden Retriever

The current owner severely neglected the dog, leaving her to suffer with a tick infestation. She gets little to no human interaction, let alone brought out for walks. The parents of the owner have had enough and wanted to send both dogs to the SPCA. Upon knowledge of this, I offered to take the dogs off their hands and find them new loving owners.

Sweet boy, Beagle for Adoption

Beautiful 1 year old unsterilized sweet boy, he has a happy family for a good 1 year till his daddy and mummy separated recently. The daddy and mummy decided since the home sweet home is gone, there is no point for either the daddy or the mummy to keep this sweet boy also.

However, daddy and mummy does not understand that in Sweet boy’s mind his daddy and mummy are his only next of kin and he loves them dearly. Sweet boy has been waiting anxiously for daddy and mummy to take him home unfortunately, that day will never come. His heart has been broken as he sits and waits.

After the separation, Sweet boy was then boarded and from freedom to sudden cooped up in a small area in the boarding, the trauma was too much and he developed depression and seizure attacks. The vet has said this is from stress and unhappiness and not a genetic ailment as Sweet boy has been visiting him since a puppy and is a healthy, happy little dog in the past. The vet also said that given love, stability, security and a new home, Sweet boy's fitting will eventually go away and he will recover however the vet said he may have to be on lifelong medication.

Sweet boy needs his medication twice daily to prevent the seizures from deteriorating further. Sweet boy is still young, he is handsome and extremely gentle in character. He hardly barks and sits sadly waiting for his family to pick him. We know how to tell kids about separation and divorce but tell me, how do you tell this sweet boy that. We try but he sits by the door looking sad and paces around with no smile and no wag. He needs a home so he can have the love and hugs he once had when he had a home. Human issues and their fall outs does not concern him and should not but ultimately the casualties of these are the dear pets who suffer.

We are desperately appealing for the right owner who is willing to give Sweet boy a chance smile again and we hope, given time his seizures will be a thing of the past.

Sweet Boy does need a home where there is someone to accompany him as he might stress if left alone, his old fears haunt him. He does not bark but he gets very anxious. In time he may learn to be left alone but it will be good if he does not have to be alone for long periods of time during his first few months in a new home.

Pidan is looking for a home. Sold as a pure beagle in a petshop three years ago, he has shorter ears than most beagles, but he has the characteristics, temperament and the typical beagle yodelling of ooo ooo ooo.

His current owners have no time for him and travel frequently and have said they can't take care of him anymore. His time is running out.

He is sterilised and around 3 years old, healthy and active and a good boy, gets along with other dogs, cats and children. He just needs a place to run around because he is always cooped up at home in a flat. Pidan is toilet trained and will not pee and poo in the apartment and wait patiently for his owner to return so he can relieve himself.

Unlike typical beagles who can be a little stubborn, Pidan learns willingly and is trainable. His shorter ears make up for his fantastic temperament and cheefulness.

About Oreo:

Took him in from the wild when he's a puppy (estimated 2 mths old). Is fully vaccinated, de-worm and spayed now. Oreo is a very intelliigent dog but quite alpha. Thats the reason why I can't handle him though I would love to keep him.

Is active, alert and high energy dog. Has guard dog attributes. Will bark to alert when sees stranger or hear noises. Loves to play with soft toys, squeaky toys and run around. Adopters preferably to be staying in private house, so there is more space for him to roam. He loves to run and jump thus if adopters are keen, can send him for Agility training. He will fare very well in that aspect.

Know basic commands like Sit, Down, Hi-Five, Paw, Stay and Off. Reason for saying he's intelligent is because he use a day (only 2 hours) to learn 3 command and he knew it after that!
Is Pee-tray and outdoor trained. Did not train him myself, he knew it when I first brought him home. Automatically went up onto my Golden retriever pee-tray and pee. I guess he smell and sees my golden doing that.
Brought him to swim every Saturday thus if adoptor is keen, Oreo had his membership paid. Owner just have to pay $6 entrance fee each time you bring him to the pool. It's for unlimited hours and use. Can bath him there as well. Will pass his membership information to you.

Reasons for unable to keep him:
- Not suitable for HDB
- He needs space to burn off his energy
- He needs more attention

Would really hope he goes to a good home. Please do not send him back to the wild.

She happened to pass by an industrial area and heard crying noises coming from a corner. She stops and found these adorable hungry puppies crying for food, water and attention. It is painful for the feeder to see them suffering with no proper shelter under the hot scorching sun and cold rain. She has provided what she can and will try to visit as regularly as she can to continue their upkeep but it is hard as this is in a far-out place. The feeder is hoping to find good homes for these puppies.

2 months old Trio Female Pups, they do not know the danger of this world. They are playful and would go around greeting and pawing humans but many times they are either being chased or kicked. Three of their siblings have perished after falling into the deep drain and sadly no one came to their rescue.

From the same area but in a different litter, little lonely JOEY is also looking for a home. Who her parents are, where his siblings went, we do not know. All we know is that little Joey is much too young to be alone this cold heartless world. Her eyes have barely opened ... our sad little orphaned Joey

Recently one afternoon, while a feeder was doing her usual round of feeding the street strays, she noticed in a deserted corner, some puppies roaming along a dangerous road. She immediately went over to take a look and saw a family of four hiding and drinking from the black dirty drain. These is a litter she has never seen before. She went around in the nearby factories asking if they could adopt the family, but the response was disappointing.

Feeding time, they get to eat two meals a week

A nearby worker told her that they have been sending puppies to construction sites or forested area as they have seen authorities do their misdeed not understanding that things are no better where they are sent. The feeder pleaded with the workers not to touch any of these puppies for she can still keep an eye on them whenever she visits but the workers seemed set in their opinion.

The feeder tried shifting the puppies to a ‘safer place’ where the traffic is less heavy but the mummy is not used to the new environment grabbed the pups one by one back to the deserted corner again.

As the feeder can only do her feeding round twice a week, she visited the place few days later and heard a pup crying very loudly for help. The pup was trapped as it had crawled into a container, the feeder was unable to crawl underneath the huge rusty container to rescue the pup and there was no worker nearby to assist. She left a duck leg for the pup to chew on and to alleviate her fear of being trapped and hoping that the workers can later help to get the pup out. As she continued busy with the feeding, she saw to her horror, a big snake right in front of her watching the pups. She shouted and chased the snake away with a stick but she is unable to be at the deserted area 24/7 to protect the family.

left a duck leg for her to chew.

This is a case of 'we have no one and no where to turn to and appealing for adoption on-site". Out of desperation, we are helping the feeder plead with any kind soul, who has the space to adopt the puppies and mummy. Devoted Cara for Adoption

Sweet Mia Cara (mia Cara means my dearest) is like a dog you have never met before. We first came to know of her and her pups from a call from one of our feeder friends. She told us of a mother dog with five pups and they were all alone in a desolate area. This was not in the location are feeding so we decided to check it out the next day. When we found the black mother dog there were only 3 pups left. Later we were told by those in the area that two had earlier ran across the road and crushed by trucks.

Cara stayed with her pups when many stray mothers would have abandoned their young when faced with danger themselves or short of food but not Cara. And when in the Shelter and she could no longer nurse her pups with her milk, she regurgitated her food for them. Even the kennel operators marvel at Cara’s devotion as they see with their own eyes that she does not eat but keeps them for her pups. They have urged us to try help find Cara a family as she is so deserving, in reward for her love and her devotion.

Cara always stayed true, stood by them, defending them despite the dangers from men who beat her with sticks to rid her of their premises. Till this day, whenever Cara sees broomsticks, she still avoids them.

Cara’s pups’ adoption were miraculous intervention. They were adopted onsite, something that does not happen often. All her pups, Zen, Silver and Raven are now grown up and living happily with their new homes. Now is her turn, now it is Cara’s turn for a chance at a family as she so deserves, having given up everything for her precious pups, she would have sacrificed her life for them too. Yes, Cara’s story is one that could touch you.

If given a chance, Cara will be as devoted to you as she was to her pups and as she is to us now. When we visit her, she is full of enthusiasm and greets us with her yelps and whines. She jumps on us in anticipation that we will take her out. She is gentle with children and loves the pats and touches. Most times she doesn’t eat the treats we offer as she just thrives on our love, our words and our cuddles. Cara deserves a home full of love and she will stand guard over your household and your family as just as she stood over her pups. And the faithful dog that she is, she will never abandon you even in the face of danger. That is Cara.

Cara is small for a cross breed. She would fit very well into an apartment but she does love going out for her walks being the free spirit that she is. Cara's whole outlook in life is Joy, Joy and more Joy. She has forgotten all her unhappy past and puts her energies and exuberance into a new day. Will you be able to give Cara that new beginning, to see her light up in happiness is a sight to behold, indeed.

History

Pepper was rescued from Selarang military camp as he kept straying into the dog training unit. He is friendly and curious to a fault and that sealed his fate. The camp decided that he had to be removed as the dog unit is a restricted area. A national serviceman took him home only to be told by his parents that pets are not welcome in their home. Pepper got passed to a second army boy whose parents also objected to a cat. We agreed to help find a home for him. On the day he arrived, we noticed he had a slight limp. When Pepper went for his first vaccination, an X-ray was done and it was found that he had dislocated his hip and the bone showed signs of trauma. So surgery was arranged and castration was carried out as well. Pepper is now as good as new, and he is back to using his bad leg to hop, jump. He is pure entertainment he's never still unless asleep.

Workshop Puppies

Recently a lonely, sad, tired and hungry pregnant mummy gave birth to a litter of 5 pups outside a car workshop under the hot, merciless sun. We do not know if she collapsed from exhaustion or heat but she went into labour with no shade to hide under. She was suffering from malnutrition and was unable to give her litter the needed milk and proper shelter.

As they were in direct path of moving traffic, a kind staff from a nearby workshop took pity and shifted her and the litter to a safer place but she is unable to keep the family for long for their safety, as the area is dangerous with big fast moving vehicles.

We are looking for committed good homes for the 2-week old 4 male and 1 female puppies before they grow bigger and start roaming the street. The workshop staff have informed us that the Authority has been pounding the area for strays and worry that the family will be culled in one of the raids, and they have no place to hide them.

Responsible Dog Ownership

In line with AVA's Responsible Pet Ownership awareness, Tampines Park RC is pleased to introduce "Good Canine Resident" - a 4-lesson (6 hours) basic dog obedience program conducted by Ms. Shanice Tan, owner and founder of SuperNova Academy Of Dog Sports "where every dog shines".

We believe that "a pet is for life" and one of the greatest gift we can give to our doggy friend is to be equipped with right training methods for both dog and owner to enhance a positive attitude in the neighbourhood we live in, the place we call home.

The three CKCS are now with different fosterers as we needed them to learn to be independent as we are realistic to understand they will not be rehomed together. Splitting them up also help us to differentiate their personalities.

Update of Shaggy by a fosterer

Just a little update on Shaggy as requested. I'm falling in love with him already......heeee.

Shaggy is a very sweet boy if I may use the word sweet for boys. When we first brought him home, he was like lost and were a little scared of my two other furkids at home. But once he is familiar with them, he is fine. Shaggy is not toilet or paper trained, sadly. He is very good with holding his pee and poo till he gets to go out for his walk.
When we first took over the fostering, Shaggy's eyes were so badly infected that he can't really see properly and always bump into things in his way. His ears were also infected and smells.

After consulting the Vet with medications to clean and wash his eyes and ears every day, his eyes is so much better now and his ears are not so smelly as well. Shaggy is now a happier boy, he even tried to play, hope and jump especially when we come home from work or school.

When we walk him every morning, the first part of the walk i have to carry him and walk very fast towards the grass area so that he will not pee on the pavement. And he really holds till he reached the permitted area and there he lets it all out and its really alot of urine.

Shaggy is still pretty skinny and his legs are not strong enough to stand too long but he never gives up walking, he enjoys walking with us every morning and sometimes in the evening as well.

Oh yes, Shaggy is a very 'greedy' boy, he eats alot and pretty fast too. Shaggy is also learn the simple command like SIT, WAIT and GO. He now sleeps with us all and with my two other furkids. He is free to roam around the house although at times he may pee everywhere.

He always wags his tail when you call his name and you can see that he is so happy.
In another 5 days' time, he is due for review and by then we believe he should be fine and putting on some weight.

This is an update on Maggie ( the sterlised female)

A lovely docile 6 year old sterilised dog. Wonderful temperament, gets along with other dogs and exceptionally good with kids and people. She is recovering from an ear infection and even when we have to dig into her ears to clean, a very painful and uncomfortable process, she will whine and cry and probably struggle to get away but she never bites. You can also pop medicine into her mouth by opening her jaws, she won't bite and obediently swallows even though she doesn't quite like the taste. She is very trusting and loving and loves following you around the house. If you are sitting on the sofa she will sleep by your feet, a real lap dog Maggie is.

We are looking for a committed home who has experience with spaniel's long ears and the needs she will require. Once her infection clears, it will be just regular maintainence. Maggie has never been toilet trained by her previous owners and sometimes gets locked up a tiny cage for long periods of time. She treats the newspapers like her bed (we suspect this is all she had to sleep on previously) and will not dirty the paper. She does not know what grass is and avoids it, prefering the pavement.

She has learnt to hold her pee and poo till she gets her walks (until she can no longer control and accidents happen). If you have a place where she can do her toilet without inconveniencing yourself or a helper or family member to walk her so she doesn't have to hold her pee/poo, you will be giving this sweet dog a chance for another life and also earned yourself a devoted and loyal companian.

Maggie is also learning to walk on leash without pulling and now can enter a lift without being too nervous. In a very short space of time she understand what is "wait, don't touch the treat" and "sit". It just provies you can teach an older dog new tricks!!

Update on Happy aka Asher by a fosterer:

Asher is currently partially toilet & paper trained. if there is paper he will do on it otherwise he will make his way to the toilet. At times, he does forget or mischievously he will pee on the floor. Asher still has his playfulness in him, and he enjoys chasing a ball around. He is a very manja dog, likes to stand on his hind legs to grab your attention and ask you to sayang him. He will "kiss" you and he is easy to train. Learns fast. Not a dominating dog, and will learn his boundaries if you teach him.

He has wonderful temperament, gets along with other dogs and exceptionally good with kids and people. He is recovering from an eye infection and has learnt to sit down and let u drip the medicine into his eye. he seem to know this will lessen the pain although he doesn't fancy it. Medication are easily fed as u can mix it into his food and he will eat it all up.. He is very trusting and loving and loves following you around the house, Always ready with a wag in his tail.

Asher WILL NOT do his business outdoors as he gets very nervous when he is out of the house. He is afraid of the cars and loud noise. needs reassurance from his owner. But he walks well on the leash, he will never pull.

In a short time he understands what is "wait, don't touch the treat" and "sit". It just proves you can teach an older dog new tricks!!

Urgent homes needed for 3 HDB sized dogs, Cavalier King Charles as the family undergoing personal family crisis and issues. It is too complicated to discuss here but the need is genuine and the owner is devastated but there is nothing she can do. The situation is beyond her. Beautiful Brownie - Lemon/White Beagle

Beautiful Brownie, the beagle

Beautiful Brownie was an impulse purchase by her first owner, however his job being in the air industry, required him to travel constantly and realising Brownie needed more attention than an electronic gadget of a Fido or Dido (sigh), much more than what he had anticipated, he handed Brownie to a friend of his who already has a dog.

The second owners tried very hard with Brownie but she is young and active and their other dog is older. The family cannot cope with a young and active Brownie who has much energy to burn. They do love her but true love means wanting the dog to be happy. And so with that in mind, however reluctant it is to let her go they feel that if there is a loving family who has time for Brownie, to bring her for walk, run and play to heart's desire and give her the due attention, as it should be, then it will be better for her.

Brownie turns 1 this month (her birthday being 27 Sep 2009) and she is in perfect health. She has such a wonderful temperament and gets along well with people, children, everyone for she is ever ready for a game - being the healthy happy typical young active beagle. She also adores other dogs and enjoy 'catch me if you can' and 'i love playing tag'.

We are sure if you are ready for a young active dog, who can be your jogging companian and soul mate, you will love Brownie. Brownie is vaccinated up to date however she is not sterilised yet and we do require the adopter to cover the sterilising costs, all receipts will be provided.

We would appreciate if you can provide us with as much information of yourself, your family, lifestyle, any experience with dogs so that we may get to know you better. A Mother's Love

One recent Saturday night, during an extremely heavy downpour, amidst thunder and lightning, when many of us would be safe and sound, warmly cuddled in our cosy homes, curled up in front of the televsion set or relaxing in peace and comfort, not so for the unfortunate. Cries of puppies' whimpering and dog's howling could be heard. They were piteous and kept on and on. and neighbouring dogs in the vincinity barked their heads off in high excitement or was it in compassionate sympathy.

The cries were heard near a construction site and so an alarm went out among the animal lovers in that area. Two bravely went out in search. It was a terrible night, visibility was poor, the rain did not ease and near the site there were no street lamps. It was dark and slippery as mud mixed with sand made it hard on sodden slippers and shoes. The rescuers went on in blind sight but by faith and hope that they would be able to find the crying puppies.

After an hour or so in the wet, cold and in darkness, the sounds seemed to come from a nearby drain gushing with water. The puppies, we speculate, apparently must have stumbled into the drain as they were young and the rain made it hard for them to follow their mom. Mommy dog was seen from a distance, sitting nearby crying for help as she could not rescue her pups, who were in the swirling brackish water. She knew her pups were drowning and there was nothing she could do but howl for help.

When the rescuers got near mommy, she was excited and cried even louder, sensing that help was on the way. In wondrous amazement, she came near as if to beckon them, and then ran ahead to show the rescuers the exact location of her pups. It was a very pitiful sight. As the rescuers looked around, there were workers at the construction site, near where the drain was but nobody bothered or came forward to help the mommy dog, nobody was touched, nobody cared. In plain sight, the poor mom with her drowning pups looked extremely forlorn and tragic.

Which was more more pitiful picutre at that time... we wondered? What was the greater tragedy. The sight of the drowning pups clawing desperately to get out of the water, the crying, frantic, whimpering mummy dog watching her beloved babies die or the apathy of hard hearted humans who had no compassion, no tinge of kindness. Sigh and sigh again.

The brave rescuers had to be careful as they were women and the drain was big. The rain was heavy with strong winds and water was already overflowing. They held on tight to each other for firm grip as there was nothing to hold on to, so that they would not fall into the drains and be swept away themselves. They managed to grab hold of one pup first with much effort and quickly passed from one to the other and finally to the mother dog as she grabbed them by their its neck to safety. They did that with two pups but sadly they were too late to rescue the third as it did not make it.

One of the pups had a serious injury at its back, with a big open cut and needed medical attention. We decided that both the pups needed to be warmed up and they could no longer stay at this site where danger was everywhere. They were so young and clumsy and death would be imminent a day longer for them here.

We told mommy dog that we will take her pups back home and get them back to health and then look for good homes for them. She seemed to understand as she stood there, quietly looking as we took her two babies away. Then she followed us slowly to our car and as we drove off. In our rear view mirrow we saw she ran after the car for a while, but stopped, as if she knew they would be safe with us.

Mommy, dear Mommy, we do love you so

The next day we visited the mother dog and showed her the pups. She was very happy to see them. We also brought food for her whereupon she ate very hurriedly and gratefully. When we left this time with her pups, mommy did not follow us nor chased after the car. We think she knows they would be safe and she must have felt relieved for them.

We will keep our promise, we will treat the pups and try to find them good homes. We will visit her often with food so that she will not starve of hunger and when the time is right, we will return to catch mommy and sterilise her.

The beautiful eyes of the innocent. Doomed for death but God has a greater plan. Will you journey with us to see His plan for Mommy's beloved.

But we need your help, We need open doors for these two pups saved from near death. These two brindle pups are looking for good homes. They are young, less than 2 months old and will grow into mid size dogs.

As in all dogs, they will be as brave and endearing and loyal as their beautiful mom if you would just give them a chance. Can you? Will you?

Handsome Lucky for Adoption

Young Lucky has the looks of a small German Shepherd, and the cutest and friendliest in the litter of orphaned pups, protective of his siblings.

After a series of unfortunate events, Lucky was finally adopted by a family and just when everything seems to be turning out right for him, the grandmother of the house fell very sick. The family had no choice but to board him out while the situation was critical but now it appears that the temporary solution then most likely will stretch much longer than they had anticipated.

Granny is now under full time nursing care at home. The doctor has advised there be no pets as she has breathing difficulties so poor Lucky has lost his home and the love of his life. The family, face with such a state is opening Lucky up to another home if one can be found as it would be fairer for him then in limbo at boarding.

Elsa and her four handsome sons

Life is hard for an abandoned dog, harder for bitches and hell for the pregnant ones. Where they wander to during their advanced stages determine the fate of their pups.

Construction sites, boon or bane? Sometimes the dogs are lucky and they get leftover scraps from the workers' pack meals. Sometimes all they get is the boot, some even doused with boiling water. Life is harsh on the road and depending on which nationality the majority of the workers come from, the dogs' fate are pretty much sealed.

Recently in a housing estate up north, a mommy dog was left abandoned by her owner. We say abandnoed for she had the looks of an owned dog, wasn't too scrawny then, was not afraid of people and had a wag in welcome.

She was heavily pregnant by the time she arrived at the estate and was completely tired, confused, lost, hungry and puzzled. A nearby construction worker had compassion and pity and took her to his worksite for shelter and provided her food. God' is Good and in the safety and security of the site workers, she gave birth peacefully to four exceptionally lovely and beautiful male puppies. We call mommy, Elsa for we believe God is bountiful and it is through His grace and mercy, the pups have survived.

All good things never bodes well in the wild no matter how much we wish or hope otherwise, and although lovely Elsa and her sons thought they finally had some permanancy and love, the boss of the worksite discovered the family staying at his site and he was unhappy. He called AVA but the workers took pains to hide the mommy dog and her beautiful puppies. But as we all know, they can’t hide them forever and they negotiated with the boss for the dogs' safety. We now have a date line to remove the dogs from the work site or he will call AVA again.

We are trying to help the site friends find homes for the Elsa and her babies. It will be wonderful if we can find a home for Mommy as well but we know realistically, her pups will stand a better chance for everyone prefers to adopt a pup.

Elsa is a lovely lovely lady with beautiful grey blue eyes. She is small frame. She is extremely docile and mild mannered and her pups have inherited her temperament, and a couple of them have the same grey blue eyes. In desperation, even if the site workers can just rehome one from this family before AVA steps in, they will be thankful for one life saved is better than 5 lives perished. Such is the situation we have all come to expect for every shelter is full and there is not enough funds to board another, even if we can find the space.

Elsa is small frame and light brown in colour with grey green eyes.

The pups are young, less than two months old, extremely healthy for they have been nursed by a healthy mom, thanks to the site workers' contribution of food and love.

Moodle was found by a rescuer tied to a tree and a resident in the area informed that the dog was tied up for almost a week! He was dejected, hungry and thirsty - subjected to the harsh environments of scorching sun and cold rain for days.

He is temporarily under foster care but need to find a home soon as the caregiver is unable to keep him for too long. Moodle has been badly treated in the past and as such, really need a patient and loving family to shower him with love and care to regain his confidence again.

Little Tigger has grown handsome and taller but still a sweet little boy. He loves playing with his chewies and chasing his foster kor kor Princy around. Just like korkor he also likes to look at hamsters and guinea pigs without hurting them. His ears have stood up, or rather, one is up and one is still floppily down. He does look goofily cute with one ear up and one ear down as if beckoning us to take yet more photos of him, before they fully become upright ears.

Tigger is such a goody with people and during a recent gathering among friends, he was the soul and life, as he was passed from hands to hands, everyone oohing and awwingg at him and queuing to cuddle this docile little boy who is so very mild and even tempered. He stands proudly to guard his home when kor kor is not around, then hides below a table to sound his barks, supposedly not sure if he should or should not, mmmm. What a laugh ! It is hilarious to hear 'wuffing' from below the table and yet cannot see the dog. And when kor kor is around, he stands a step behind to give support and encouragement when kor kor barks, but not a sound from little Tigger, just egging on as a bystander - looking.

He has learnt his toileting habits well and has a marvellous appetite. Everything is appreciated by him, no remnants left as the food bowl is licked clean Once we went visiting with food for an impromtu mini party and much later, found comical little Tigger sitting patiently and quietly all alone at the back with his eyes fixed on his empty bowl, as if waiting for us to remember him in our jolly repast. This is the kind of joy and laugher Tigger brings his fosterers each day. Yes, he is loved dearly and if the fosterer could keep him, they will but they can't and the next best thing is to let him go to a home who loves him just as much.

Mr Tobey smiles his Hello

Mr. Tobey, smiling black/tan Papillion (cross?)

A smiling, happy fella, Tobey is a lovely young black/tan Papillon (cross?) who was found wandering near an MRT for days. Many people passed by thinking he was lost and left him alone but after a few days with no sign of the owner returning, a compassionate lady took him in. Poor fella was so hungry and thirsty and relieved help came, he immediately sat down solemnly and gave her a "Paw" to thank her.

We call him Tobey or Mr. Tobey as he has such perfect manners, offering his paw to everyone he meets as in "How do you do, Kind Sir". Tobey is an unsterilised papillon, estimated to be between 3 to 4 years old, and with his lovely butterfly ears and smile, he makes such a welcome sight that a first instinct would be to pick him up and hug him tight He is docile, gentle and a meek little boy, still rather shy as fresh from his rescue but has settled in very well with the fosterer's dogs. He is thin and his fur condition is not as sleek nor shiny as it should be, probably from neglect and poor nutrition but nothing that love and time won't heal.

We are looking for a home, preferably with experience looking after dogs (small breed) for Tobey, with a condition that the Adopter will bring him to a vet for his vaccination, checks and sterilisation. Alternatively we can arrange to do all the necessary but adopter will cover the expenses (receipts provided).

Update on the Forest Pups

The forest pups have since been relocated into fostering as they were being attacked by rats and bitten by big red ants. Their tails were reportedly chewed and found to be full of holes and maggots. Because of the dire situation, there was no choice but to pull them out, even though the mother dog ran away and refused to be caught. It was a hard decision to make, with mommy howling in anguish as she saw her pups being taken, but if that was not done, we were not sure if the pups would survive in the damp and rot.

The vet took immediate action and gave medication. One of them had a bit of her tail amputated as her injury was very bad and the vet was afraid of further infection. They have all since recovered well and very cute and fat little pups.

We have named them, for adoption distinction for we couldn't keeping saying forest pups or brown pups one two or three. There is only one male pup and we have called him McCoy. the other girls are Alphy, Pinky, Bearie and Rocco. The photos shown below were taken two weeks ago.

As of today's blog posting, there are only two pups left for adoption, McCoy the male and Alphy the female. The others have been adopted into loving homes. They are extremely cute and playful, full of mischief and will now look forward to a rosier future than their unfortunate mother.

Young Lucky has the looks of a small German Shepherd, and the cutest and friendliest in the litter of orphaned pups, protective of his siblings.

After a series of unfortunate events, Lucky was finally adopted by a family and just when everything seems to be turning out right for him, the grandmother of the house fell very sick. The family had no choice but to board him out while the situation was critical but now it appears that the temporary solution then most likely will stretch much longer than they had anticipated.

Cute Chocolate Muffin

Chocolate coloured Muffin was first discovered 2 months ago by her rescuer who was on her way to work. The rescuer saw a puppy being run over by a truck and was lying on the road yelping and shivering in pain. The driver did not stop to see the damage and Muffin would have been left to die, another result from road kill. Fortunately for Muffin, angels were watching and without hesitation, the resucer rushed Muffin to the vet for treatment and now she is recovering well from her leg injury. The vet did not perform any surgery on her as being a puppy, he left her bone to heal naturally with love, care, medication and proper nutrition.

Muffin is currently under temporary foster care. Her fosterer has this to say about her: Muffin is such sweet little cutie girl, who is attention seeking and is a fast learner too! She seems to understand human language very well and has learnt the words Sit, Come and No command naturally. Muffin has also started paper trained and has potential for much more as she is a very intelligent little pup.

Muffin is now six months old and fully vaccinated. She is ready to go to a good home with a loving and understanding owner who has the time to care and love her unconditionally.

Forest Pups - An old man's worry
As many of us know, it has been raining for the past few weeks in Singapore. The wind and rains are particularly strong in the forested areas. One day, an 80 year old man was taking his routine walk when he heard a yelp – sounding like a piteous cry for help from a far distance. He was curious and began walking through the difficult wood to search for that cry. It resulted in 45 mins of tedious hunt in a heavily forested area, hurting himself through dead trees, snagged by pricky thorns, thick undergrowth and multilayered canopy dominated by large trees and accumulations of dead leaves and rotten wood.

The forest - where no man dares tread.

The kind old man finally saw a lonely mommy dog with her 8 pups trapped by dead logs in the dense forest. As there was no way for him to remove the logs, he went home and brought along a chisel, an axe and trowel to start removing the logs and making small pathway for the mommy and pups to walk. As he is old and did not have help, the old man spent one full day removing all the obstacles to rescue the family. He carried the pups and made a makeshift shelter for them to rest and went off to cook a simple meal for them to eat.

As age is catching up, the old man suffered a terrible backache and fatigue; he was sick for many days and was unable to get out of bed. As he lived alone, there was no one to care for him, much less cook for the dogs. The mommy was hungry and started bringing her pups to the deep forest to search for food which resulted in 3 deaths as they were either starved to death or crushed by the falling dead trees.

The old man is pleading for kind souls who have the space and love at home to give the puppies a chance in life to call it their home as well. Right now we are trying to help him rehome them since they are very young and when time is right, we will have mommy sterilized, if we can get near enough her to catch her. Many have suggested to the old man to bring the pups to SPCA as there are so many others out there also looking for home, the chances for these to find one will be dim. We are as torn on how to help him but we will try this avenue first.

Please Help Cat with Half Her Face Gone!!!

Lara was found with half her face missing, rotting and smelling very very awful. The smell was so bad that the vet had to put on vic's vapourub on her mask while in surgery and still the smell seeped through.

She was missing for 2 weeks before she appeared when the feeder went on her feeding rounds. She was very skinny and hungry, trying to eat, but was unable to as the pain must be terrible. Managed to trap her and sent her to the vet. She has been a cat at Little India for many years and was only recently sterelised about 2 months ago. Its not fair that she has to end up this way. Seeing that she is still trying to eat and has such strong surviving spirit, decided to bring her to the vet and see how it goes.

The vet had to do 2 surgeries to take off the dead skin on her face. Half of her nose is gone, her lower eyelid and some part of the mouth. After the first surgery, she began eating on her own the third day and has gone on from strength to strength. For the second surgery, the vet put a tube through her oesophagus directly to her stomach so she can be tube fed and her face wouldn't be dirtied which may cause further infections.

She would need multiple surgeries to reconstruct her face. Parts of it which do not have skin for the new tissue to grow will will be vulnerable to infections. She also need daily cleaning for her face, which she is tolerating quite well! She also needs to be indoor after this, so she would need a home too. So far the hospital bill is coming up to $1000 and she will still need to stay there for quite awhile. The vet estimate that she would need another $1000 at least and more for the reconstruction of her face.

Gracie Grace is back!!

Late late last night to early hours of this morning, a call came that a dog resembling Grace was spotted at Redhill. The saga came to an end with verification that it is indeed Grace and she still sports the blue collar and the joyous reunion it must have been for dear E and M who have relentlessly continued their search for her since she was lost.

We were not there to see their expressions but we can imagine the tremendous joy and relief, not just for our two wonderful guys but for all of you who have followed this case. The many who have helped in the search during the early days, passing on her "Lost" message, postings on forums, blogs, sites, making posters, pinning up at various locations, following leads, praying and upholding each other in comfort. Yes there were many out there rooting for Grace to be found, safe and alive.

As for us who are posting this blog, we never gave up that she was out there waiting. We kept her 'Lost' notice up every week, long when others had stopped because we felt it was important she does not become a memory lost in the many new updates or stories that flood in each day. We knew we had to keep her face imprinted fresh in our minds and blog in the hope that someone might copy and post or email to a friend of a friend of a friend. And to our joy and relief, after 47 long days, Grace is finally back.

47 days of wondering if she had food to eat, 47 days of worry if she any water to drink and the extremely hot weather lately has not helped, 47 days of torturous 'what ifs?' haunt us now and again but we never gave up hope and continued to rally and pray and so the saga ends and everyone is happy again.

Thank you dear four kind strangers who spotted her and held on to her till help came. We do not know you nor your names but we thank you. You will always know that you helped a lost dog be found, helped her return to those who love her so and save her from a life of wandering and hunger and probably eventual death.

Grace is back at the place where she has been much missed and very much loved and there she will stay. She probaby has lots of stories to tell and a tale that would wow her canine friends but for us, all we can see is her happy tail and joyful barks. She recognises her old friends and marvellously, thank God for keeping her safe, does not seem the worse for wear except tired and thinner than we last saw her.

And it goes to show that nothing is impossible if one has hope. We hope and pray that for those of you who have lost a pet and still waiting for their return, may Grace's return inspire and encourage you.
